Religion and Moana

The Island means everything to Moana, her family and the Island's people. It is there main resource for life. Everything they do is shaped around this Island. They give it the highest respect and tend to its every needs. Without its resources, they would be at a complete lost. Within the movie, the Island itself goes through many stages. In the Beginning, everything seemed to be perfectly fine, but as the movie progressed, the Island began to die, their resources quickly becoming non existent. The Island needed her people now then ever. Moana embarked on a journey she knew nothing about but knew it would be the only chance they had of survival and saving their land. After balance is restored, the Island was able to go back to providing a beautiful home for all and the people could go back to using and protecting the land. (Moana).

In Nature Spirituality, the land means so much. A high emphasis is placed on the land and how it is used. The purpose is to fully understand what you have. A huge amount of resources in many lives are those that come directly from our earth. In order to keep this going, we need to look at the land as something more than just land, it needs to be recognized as a path to living. You must realize that without it, we could be no more. It is important to take time out of your day to solely for time tending to the land. (Bron).

Through this idea, that Nature is everything, we are able to compare Moana's Island to a way such as this one.
