Religion and Moana

Disney's Moana was released in 2016 by Walt Disney Studios. This film follows the story of a young girl named Moana, her family and the Island's people. The Island means everything to them. It is their way of life. Everything they have comes from the Island and the only time they leave is to go fishing. Early on in the Film, Moana feels she is being called to the ocean. Allowing her curiosity to get the best of her, she decides to find out what this calling is. Her first attempt trying to discover what it could mean, she was blocked by her father, he felt there was no need to venture far off the island so he forbid her. Once the Island reached the point where it was no longer able to provide for the people in ways it once could, Moana felt then that she was their only answer. She would be able to save both the people and her Island. She was not sure how things would play out but she headed for the ocean in hopes it would guide her to where she needed to be. After many obstacles, she was able to save the land. Through the willingness Moana had, never giving up even when times were rough, she was able to fulfil the great need the Island and the people had.   (Moana).
