Religion and Moana

Moana, young, curious, brave and eager. She is the main character in Disney's movie, Moana. Since Moana was a child she always felt a connection to the ocean. She seemed to have a calling. Unsure of what to make of this calling, she found herself standing at the edge of the water many times wondering what it could mean. After the devastation that took place on the Island, it could longer provide for the People's needs, Moana knew she must do something to help save them. With help from the Ocean, Moana embarked on a journey to save the Island. Every step of the way the ocean was her guide.  After many stops and encounters, Moana was able to restore life and save her people. In a time of need, Moana was the only answer. She was chosen by the ocean to fulfil a desperate need. Her bravery and curiosity paid off in the end, when she was needed most.(Moana).

Moana's story is comparable to one of the story of Jesus. In Christianity, they believe that Jesus is the son of God and was born to the world to help guide the journey of many to understanding and having a relationship with God. Jesus was the answer to saving many lives. He died on a cross to take away sins, so there can be eternal life. (New International Version, John 3: 16-20). Moana, like Jesus, was born with a purpose. 

 

Moana was born to the Island and was later the one who could help with the problems they would experience. (Moana).
